Signs of Autumn

From old times in Japan, it has been thought that it is noble to live with nature, be close to it and become a part. Nature was not regarded as something to conquer with the wisdom of human kind. “Let a flower live as it lives in the nature” is a saying by Sen no Rikyu, a master of Zen philosophy, which one could argue is the heart and essence of Japanese culture, and chanoyu (tea ceremony), which was descended from Zen Buddhism. His saying means that when arranging flowers in a tea room, it is important to put them as if they are blooming in nature.

What I envision in my mind when making a flower vase is that it should make flowers of every season stand out most beautifully.

As a Japanese ceramics and food complement each other, I hope my flower vase becomes complete when flowers are in it.
